New Specs!

Hi Guys and Dolls!

Over the past few months I’ve noticed that my vision has been going down hill – A crazy thought considering I had just gotten a new prescription and purchased glasses early last year!

Since being diagnosed with the blood clot in my neck, it was important to get my eyes examined, as vision changes can be associated with a clot of this nature. I also learnt in this examine that there’s always the potential for a piece of the clot to break off and travel into my eye(s) – Another thing to watch out for! Lovely.

Anyways, having just purchased expensive Tory Burch frames with high quality lenses less than a year ago, and only being covered for a couple hundred dollars every couple of years, I knew I had to seek out a less expensive option.

A friend of mine had recommended Warby Parker – It was the first time I heard of this concept where glasses actually seemed affordable! The cost difference from what I would usually spend honestly blew my mind a little.

I was set to check out Warby (and I still will one day) when I stumbled across a similar site/store – Bonlook! I was instantly obsessed with their collection.

The (Second) Most Wonderful Time of The Year – For Sephora Addicts

As I’m sure all my fellow make-up addicts know, the second most wonderful time of the year for Sephora shoppers is heading into it’s final day! The Spring Beauty Insider sale is the second best time of the year to stock up on all of your favourites next to the Fall sale (which has a greater discount).

I typically use the Fall sale to do a major stock-up, and as an opportunity to buy fun value sets that come out in time for the Holidays. Because of this, when the Spring sale rolls around, I usually only have to stock up on a few of the things I go through quite regularly throughout the year such as primers, foundation and brow pomade.

With this in mind, I decided to create this post focused on the staples of my morning routine rather than the more fun specialty items! Noticeably absent are my concealer and eyeliner as I still purchase these from the drugstore (Maybelline).

Fortunately, most of these items still last me about a year or more each so right now I only have to place a small order (my bank account is fairly thankful). I will also stock up on Sephora Collection’s Fiber Masks as I’m fairly in love with them right now (watch for another post dedicated to these in the coming weeks).

All of these products are tried and true, since I use them daily, so I can’t recommend them enough – I’m often asked what I use for my daily make-up so, alas, here is the long awaited post in a quick guide format (with links)!

Location Love – Colette Grand Café

Last weekend I finally decided to check out Colette Grand Café located at King and Bathurst here in Toronto, and let me just stay this place is stunning and somewhat of a hidden gem!!

Colette Interior

Tucked away amid condos and across from a park, you would never suspect the beautiful Parisian style cafe/restaurant/bakery that is hidden inside this unsuspecting building. From the moment you walk in, you are transported away from Toronto and surrounded by some of the most lovely decor I have seen in any restaurant across the city. There are multiple rooms you can choose to be seated – Each filled with stunning natural light, and their own sweet charm.

For this visit, we chose to grab some croissants and macarons from the bakery, and find a seat in the cafe-styled section as the sun set through floor to ceiling windows. We also ordered a wonderful bottle of chardonnay – A stellar combination for a Sunday afternoon.
